This is very important to know "How to use Welding blankets"? Various Blankets have applied for various applications and requirements. Basically, Welding Blankets are designed to protect machinery & equipment or other stuff while welder welding. It means when contacted by spatter of molten metal during a welding process the material protects the surrounding areas by maintaining the structural integrity of the blanket.

Like many welding, blankets are made of Silicone Coated
& Graphite coated on "flame retardant fiberglass" and Specially Vermiculite
Coated Welding Blanket is made from Ceramic Woven Cloth. These blankets can stand working temperatures ranging from
500 to 1,500 degrees Celsius.
Historically welding blankets were made of woven asbestos, however, due to
safety concerns have been widely discontinued and made from "Vermiculite
Coated Ceramic Cloth" for Heavy Welding
works.
Welding Blankets are originally required for protection from welding spatter. It can work as a shield to
protect other material against fire sparks and splatter. Like the Industrial Equipment,
machinery, bodywork of a car, a wooden floor, a carpet, ... Of course, it
also comes in handy while grinding, cutting, and every other activity that
creates heat.
The use of Welding Blankets is dependent on requiring applications and industries. For example, a Fiberglass fire blanket is basically a light-duty welding blanket and helps to prevent fires where Silicone coated Welding Blankets are waterproof so can use as "Fire Tarpaulin", also using in Pharmaceutical industries, Chemical Industries, Insulation works, etc. Medium Duty Welding Blankets and Heavy Duty Welding Blankets are used for welding works, fabrication works, cutting, and grinding works.
Vermiculite Coated Welding Blankets are very useful in High-temperature welding works because it is made from Ceramic Cloth 3 mm thickness and Coated with Vermiculite Powder which stands up to 1400 c temperature. Maximum use of these blankets in various types of Gas Welding works and others.

Welding Blankets are to be used on an incline of at least 35 degrees. Sparks hitting a blanket, which is positioned horizontally, will put extra stress on the material and a stronger and more "Heat Resistant Blanket" should be used. In general, use welding Torch should be kept at least 3 feet from welding blanket at atmosphere pressure ( Higher pressure application can be used to torn fabric apart)
Before using Welding Blankets for the first time, always perform a test. Use multiple layers initially for maximum protection from sparks spatter & radiant heat. (After the test, fewer layers can be used! ) Thicker blankets will provide a higher grade of protection. Texturized blankets provide better insulation than filament fiber blankets.
